J&A Present | Six Strings for a Cure: A Benefit Concert for the American Cancer Society

The Cause

Many of us have lost loved ones to cancer (or have maybe had it ourselves). We all have a story of how this disease has affected our lives. In 2018, an estimated 1,735,350 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States and 609,640 people will die from the disease. In the United States, the overall cancer death rate has declined since the early 1990s, but there is still much work to be done. This benefit concert is to help fund studies that lead to better treatments and a cure for cancer.

The Artist

Mike Cooley is an American songwriter, singer, and guitarist and a member of the band Drive-By Truckers. Born in from Tuscumbia, Alabama, Cooley has been described as “rock & roll incarnate—Mick and Keith rolled into one impossibly cool, soul-howling, guitar rattlin’ ball of genuine unapologetic grit and swagger.”

The Details
